Centro de Reproducción Equina
The new COVECA Centre for Equine Reproduction is located within the installations of the Yeguera Ovelar stud farm, but in an area that is totally independent of it.
The geographical situation is exceptional, given that it is 30 minutes from Madrid, 20 minutes from Toldeo (a UNESCO world-heritage site) and 10 minutes from Aranjuez (summer residence of the Spanish kings in the 18th and 19th centuries). To get there, take the A-4 motorway, exit 44, and then, after 4km, the CM-4001 road. The installations are situated in the El Quinto estate, within the municipality of Borox, in the province of Toledo.
The Centre for Equine Reproduction has recently received European authorization for the collection, manipulation, conservation, and national and international distribution of fresh and frozen semen, as well as of equine embryos. The centre’s zootechnical code is: ES07RS04E.
The centre is able to provide all the areas that are required to enable the offering of an integrated and perfect service to breeders.

Accommodation for female horse
We have 20 stalls of 3 x 3 m., with concrete side walls, and of sufficient height to avoid direct contact with the animals. All the stalls have automatic water dispensers.
Foaling stall area
We have 20 foaling stalls of 6 x 3 m. in a separate shed independent of the other modules and next to the ultrasound area. We also have another independent foaling stall, of the same dimensions, with a glass window, for difficult births or for treatments that require 24-hour attention.
Area for ultrasound and health monitoring
We have six highly secure and solid sleeves for the carrying out of ultrasound scans or the application of whatever kind of treatment. These sleeves are available in a zone so that the foals can be in direct contact with their mothers. Independent, but in the same area, we have another sleeve for treatments.
